Pastor's Column

December 9, 2018 Pastor's column

We have been most blessed to have the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart in our school for 60 years and we thank Sr. Genevieve for speaking this weekend about our opportunities to help those who have retired.

Sr. Rose Caritas will take her final vows on Wednesday with the Poor Clare sisters.  Sister was a long-time St. Charles member named Karen Robertson before joining the convent.  She has been a shining example of a religious vocation, giving herself joyfully in a witness of poverty, chastity and obedience within the cloister.  As our parish is benefitting greatly from her prayer, we now join in prayer for her.  In her honor, the parish has made a donation to the orphanage in Haiti which she supported for many years by making and selling dipped chocolate candies.

The parish received a very generous gift this week from the estate of Carol Brown.  Please remember her in prayer.

As we approach Christmas, everyone is encouraged to make a good confession to get ready for the big day.  Our St. Charles parish penance service is Monday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.  In the meantime, there are many penance services this week:  St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Monday, Our Lady of Good Hope on Tuesday, St. Vincent on Wednesday, and St. Jude on Thursday.

Please note the Christmas Mass schedule—and invite all of the friends and relatives you can!

Christmas eve:  4 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 12:00 midnight.  Christmas morning:  9:00 and 11:00.
