Next weekend is an important weekend in the life of our parish. Deacon Nathan Maskal, a life-long St. Charles parishioner, will be ordained a priest at the Fort Wayne cathedral at 11:00 on Saturday, June 2. If you have never seen an ordination, this is a magnificent event and a great opportunity. Five young men will be ordained and there will likely be an overflow crowd. Come early for a seat.
Then, next Sunday, Fr. Nathan will celebrate his first Mass here at St. Charles. Join us, if you can, for the 11:00 Sunday Mass for Corpus Christ, celebrated by Fr. Nathan. The Mass will feature professional brass and tympani players, an outdoor Eucharistic procession with a newly-made silk canopy, and a luncheon in the Hession Center with an opportunity for blessings from our new priest.
You may have noted the beautiful new piece of furniture in our Gathering space. A writing desk was commissioned in memory of Carmela Seggese and built by Jerry Ludwig to match our other furnishings. This desk holds two sign-up books. The first book is for those who would like to take home our parish Vocation Cross for a week. The second book is for those who would like to help bringing forward the offertory gifts at weekend Masses. We hope to have more people involved in this very simple ministry. This is a perfect opportunity for families with young children to take an important part in the Mass.
The parish received a check last week for over $11,000 in overgoal from the Annual Bishop’s Appeal. I thank everyone who has been so generous in the Bishop’s Appeal. It allows a lot of important ministries and it has also been a blessing to our parish.
