Our parish is now subscribing to Hallow, a prayer app with a lot of excellent content. If you would like to try it out, click on “Church” and scroll to St. Charles, Fort Wayne. My understanding is that our parishioners can sign up for the app for free. You can tune in to daily homilies, rosaries, night prayer, The Bible in a Year, the Catechism in a Year, and a wide variety of prayer experiences led by well-known Catholic speakers. While Formed.org is a great resource for learning the faith and finding inspiring movies and talks, the Hallow app is aimed at prayer. If you are looking for a regular prayer routine, you can choose options that take only a few minutes a day and others that are longer. Give it a try. You can find it at try.hallow.com.
As part of our parish tithe, we are helping a seminary in Fort Portal, Uganda. It is an area with a vibrant Church, but great poverty and now fear of the Ebola virus. Our last donation was used for a new roof on their dormitory and for building pit latrines. The construction has taken nearly a year. We received this week a very thorough document, which includes the cost of each bag of cement, box of nails and gallon of paint. They also included photos of the projects during construction and the final results. “We shall forever remain grateful to you and the Parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Parish for your love, care and support.
