I am on my way home from Georgia this weekend. After spending five days in silence in a Trappist monastery, I’ll be ready to jump back in to parish life. I’m grateful to Fr. Drew and Fr. Jery for covering many ministries in my absence.
Mason Bailey, our summer seminarian, is returning to the seminary early this week. His address is: St. Meinrad Seminary, 200 Hill Drive, St. Meinrad, IN 47577.
Everyone is invited to a Vocations Holy Hour on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., after the 6:30 Mass. It will be a time of silence with the Blessed Sacrament exposed, praying for holy vocations.
You may have read about the service at Catholic Cemetery on Wednesday, Aug. 26, which is organized by the Allen County Coroner’s office. The coroner currently has over 100 sets of cremated remains from people who never had a family come forward to claim the body. There are also a few unidentified remains. All of these will be laid to rest on Wednesday in a crypt under the old mausoleum at Catholic Cemetery. I will join the chaplain from the coroner’s office in leading a prayer service for these folks before the ashes are sealed in the crypt. The service will begin at 11:00, outdoors at the cemetery. Anyone who would like to come and join in prayer is welcome.
There will be a blue barrel in our Gathering Space for the next two weekends. Catholic Charities is joining with four other agencies, asking for donations of diapers, unscented wipes, hygiene items, and new socks and underwear.
