Pastor's Column

February 1 pastor's column

Because of last week’s winter weather, the Knights of Columbus have moved their Free Throw contest to this weekend.  Boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited after the Sunday Masses on Feb. 1 to come to the gym and compete with their basketball skills.

Over the years, when someone has joined our parish, we have given them a booklet which describes the various ministries here.  The goal is that people will volunteer for ministries and also benefit from ministries we offer.  It was recently pointed out that our booklets hadn’t been updated in many years.  A lot of the information wasn’t accurate.  We now have a new, updated version available for new parishioners--and for anyone else who would like one.  We will have copies on the tables in the back of church.  Thanks are due to Beverly Ade and Casey Ryan for all of their work on this project.  From this point we plan to update every six months.

The Borromeo Bash will take place next weekend, Saturday, February 7.  This event will be held at Ceruti’s on Innovation Blvd, with a fine dinner, an auction, a silent auction, and casino games.  As I am writing this column, there are still some tickets available.  Check the website Bidpal.net/borromeobash to see if tickets are available or if you can put your name on a waiting list.  You can also make a donation and check out the auction items.  Thanks are due to the volunteers who put so much time into this event and to all of the sponsors and donors who help.

Our parish will take part in the diocesan Synod, sharing with the bishop and with each other our thoughts on the ministries that are working well in the Church and the ministries that could use more attention.  Our Parish Consultation event will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 22, from 2:00-3:30 in the Hession Center.  You can sign up with the QR code in this week’s bulletin or on sign-up sheets in the Gathering Space.
