We welcome Bishop Rhoades to our 11:00 Mass this weekend. We are blessed to have a prayerful, hard-working and conscientious bishop leading our diocese.
The school window project is virtually done. As I write this column there is one pane of glass left to install. This early finish gives our maintenance crew time to paint walls, wax floors, and put furniture back in place before school starts on August 7. After all of our difficulties and delays revolving around the portable classrooms, we are grateful to Schenkel’s Construction for providing so many summertime workers and getting the job done quickly while school is out. The classrooms now have far more light, and each room has a window which functions as a fire escape. With thicker walls and more insulation we will save on heating costs. We expect to have less ants in the building too.
There are two more Thursday evening sessions of Bible and Burgers with Fr. Bobby. These have been very well attended and I’m hearing good reviews. Come on Thursday evening, bring a folding chair and some food to share.
As we celebrate a Jubilee Year, Bishop Rhoades will be offering a series of Jubilee Masses in churches across the diocese. A Pontifical Blessing will be offered at each of these Masses, and with the usual conditions, a plenary indulgence is attached. These are the Masses on our end of the diocese, each on a Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.: Aug. 13 at St. Anthony Angola; Oct. 8 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton; and Oct. 29 at Ss. Peter and Paul in Huntington.
