We welcome Fr. Fabian Hevi this week. Fr. Fabian is the founder of the “Wells for Africa” program which we supported during Lent of 2025. He will tell us about the results of our collection and the good works of Cross Catholic Outreach.
We are getting closer to groundbreaking for our new Borromeo Center, but still awaiting final approvals from the diocese. The building will feature three meeting rooms of different sizes, a kitchen, and bathrooms and storage spaces. Entering the building, there will be a mosaic image of Jesus in the front lobby. We have commissioned an Italian company to make the mosaic and the preliminary work looks great. Watch for more information.
We are very anxious for the opening of that new Borromeo Center with expanded meeting space. Our OCIA group this year is far larger than we have had in the past and we are running out of space in our downstairs meeting area. Please keep in prayer all those who are preparing to join us for the Catholic sacraments. I think that we have roughly 25 lined up at this point.
Cardinal Fest is fast approaching. A middle school dance will be held the evening of Sept. 11 and the main event will be next Saturday, Sept. 12. Games, Bingo, Food trucks, and activity will begin at 3 p.m. An adult beer tent will open at 7 p.m. Please join us.
Finally, a lot of people have asked about the fate of my left kidney. I visited the recipient and his family in North Carolina during my time away. He is an active Catholic, a few years older than I am, with a wife, three kids and several grandkids. We had a great evening together. I learned one remarkable bit of info: the surgeons placed my left kidney into his right side. My old kidney is functioning just fine backwards.
