This is Cardinal Fest weekend. We welcome guests and we thank all of the workers who make this event happen. There is an enormous amount of organization needed to coordinate all of the games and events, recruit volunteers, bring in food trucks, set up and clean up. We are grateful for our many dedicated workers.
We have great events planned this Sunday for our middle school students and also our high school students. As we kick off a new year of youth ministry and also remember the canonizations of Carlos Acutis and pier Giorgio Frassati, we will have a giant obstacle course, food, and games at the youth center on Sunday afternoon, September 7. Middle schoolers are invited from 3:00-5:00 and high schoolers from 6:00-8:00.
We are also beginning our new year with music ministry. The 9:00 choir has a first rehearsal on September 18 at 7:15 pm. We also welcome those who might want to join the 11:00 choir or the Sunday evening choir. Call Karen at 484-6570 or reach out to her at khopestcharles@yahoo.com. Next weekend we will show a short video before Mass begins. Plans are in the works for a diocesan synod in the fall of 2026. The video will explain what the synod is all about and how we will be involved.
I am leaving on Sunday afternoon for a ten-day vacation with old seminary friends. We have been ordained 35 years. We will some days at a medieval monastery in the highlands of Scotland and then drive around looking for castles and other good sites. I will return late on September 17. In the meantime, you are in good hands with Fr. Bobby and Fr. Jery.
